Why Concealed Carry or License to Carry

Why do we go through all the hops in order to legally concealed carry or license to carry in Texas? There are hundreds answers, but for me, concealed carry is the most efficient method of self-defense. I believe in self-reliance as much as possible. As my friend Bob Mayne at the HandgunWorld Podcast states “Why do I carry a gun? Because I can’t carry a cop!”

When you and your loved ones are under attack, you need to resolve the problem NOW, not minutes later. According to American Police Beat, the average response time for an emergency call in US is 10 minutes. The response times reported by the El Paso (Texas) Police Department was an average of 11 minutes and 11 seconds. It is widely accepted fact that police is there to document and process the crime scene; rarely the police can get there in time to save one life and STOP the crime.

Relatively speaking, without extensive firearms training (compare with life-long martial arts training), one can be sufficient to defend oneself. Please note that I am NOT advocate that one “does not” need firearms training. In fact I absolutely encourage everyone to train before and after obtaining the Texas License to Carry. Fortunately, for most people, with a few hours of training each week, most folks can be quickly proficient in use of firearms in self-defense.
